He’s still adorable!” It’s hard to pick out of all our characters, but today my answer is Darryl!īill: I think I have to say the chairman of the ghost council (kidding!) Libby (Molly’s friend from school) is a blast and incredibly complex. Justin Rodrigues, our lead character designer, came up with a character design that is so delightful, that no matter what we do to him you just love him still, and that’s exactly what we wanted. He is such a little dynamo of entertainment. Then I thought “Oh this is fun to share with the world and let them in on our feeling process!” If it is not giving you specificity, it’s giving you a sense of tone and intention.ĬC: Besides Molly and Scratch, who’s your favorite character in the show and why?īob: If you asked me tomorrow my answer would be different than it was today, but I am going to say her little brother Darryl. So I had begun creating that playlist for myself and I would listen to it and let my thoughts flow as we created this universe. When crafting a show, I like to immerse myself in different art and music to inform the writing. It talks about the emotional journey that each character is going through at that moment.ĬC: In speaking of which, we LOVE your Ghost and Molly McGee inspiration playlist! Will we be able to recognize these influences in the first episode’s music?īill: Yes! Absolutely! The funny thing about the inspiration playlist is that I didn’t really intend for it to get that expanded upon. We’re shaking things up!” and give you a real burst of energy! Man, I love the songs!īill: And they sort of focus on that theme of each particular episode. They’re there to go “okay the story’s going this way. They come along at the perfect moment to keep things from getting stale. They suggest great visuals for our board artists which allows them to go wild during song bursts! It allows for a level of surrealness and energy. Rob Cantor, writes such great visual songs. How do you think music helps you in the storytelling process?īob: It allows for bigger stories! It allows you to cover a lot of ground within a minute and a half. I noticed that there is going to be an emphasis on musical numbers in each episode. Fifty beautiful earworms that are going to stick with you long after you’ve turned the show off.ĬC: I agree! This brings me to my next question. But I think it’s hopeful in how you can face these challenges with your friends and family… I think it’s an uplifting show!īob: Also… fifty songs in our first season. You’ll see as we get further into the season, that there are some challenges that Molly will face that aren’t always easy. I think it’s honest about some of the challenges. But I think it’s very hopeful, and it uplifts the audience, and when they watch it they feel a little more hopeful about life. I think for (Ghost and) Molly McGee, I think its really fun. I mean there’s some brilliant content out there. As we near the month of October, Disney Channel's newest and spookiest show, "Ghost and Molly McGee" is getting ready to premiere! To celebrate, we sat down with the show's creators, Bill Motz and Bob Roth, to learn about what we can expect from this frighteningly fun, new series!Ĭartoon Crave: There are a lot of cool cartoons out there right now, what do you think Molly McGee brings to the mix?īill: Well we are in a golden age of animation in a lot of ways.
